Homemade Holiday Muddy Buddies
This is such a sweet treat for my family during the holidays. My recipe deviates from the original Betty Crocker/Chex Mix recipe, but it is highly coveted at all parties and family functions!
Ingredients
- 9 cups Rice Chex
- 12oz bag semisweet chocolate chips (I recommend Guittard)
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup butter (I recommend taking butter out of fridge to let soften before making these - approx 1-2 hours prior)
- 1-2 tsp vanilla
- 2-3 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Into a 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag, measure cereal and set aside.
- In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla.
- Pour mixture over cereal in resealable food-storage bag and seal bag, shaking until evenly coated.
- Add 2 cups powdered sugar and shake until well coated. If not evenly coated, add more powdered sugar until evenly blended.
- Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container until ready to serve.
